창덕궁 부용지

창덕궁은 1405년 지어진 조선의 궁궐로, 자연 지형을 살린 배치가 아름다워 1997년 유네스코 세계유산에 올랐다. 부용지는 창덕궁 후원의 대표적인 네모난 연못이다. 하늘은 둥글고 땅은 네모나다는 옛 생각을 담아 네모난 못 가운데에 둥근 섬을 두었다. 못가에는 정자인 부용정이 있다.

EnglishChangdeokgung is a Joseon dynasty palace built in 1405. Praised for the way its buildings embrace the natural terrain, it was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Buyongji is the representative square pond of Changdeokgung's rear garden. Following the old idea that heaven is round and earth is square, a round island was placed in the center of the square pond. The pavilion Buyongjeong stands at its edge.
