English2022 card news by VANK and the Korea Heritage Service (then the Cultural Heritage Administration) on Korea's Hanbok and Indonesia's Batik. It shows how Hanbok's shape and colors once marked status, official rank, and gender, the 2022 designation of "Hanbok saenghwal" as National Intangible Cultural Heritage, and Hanbok today. It also presents Batik, a wax-resist dyeing tradition on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list since 2009, and invites young people to protect the world's heritage.

02
Indonesia is "the land of many islands" (Nusantara), made up of more than 17,000 islands. People there have a traditional culture they treasure: a traditional clothing culture called Batik.
03
Batik is a way of dyeing cloth by drawing patterns on it with wax. Traditional clothes made this way are also called Batik. Through dots, lines, and colorful animal and plant patterns, Indonesians have expressed their nature, life, and heart.
04
Even today, Batik is so loved that it's called "the treasure of Indonesia." People wear it at ceremonies like weddings and funerals, at religious events, performances, and sports games, and in everyday life too.
05
Batik is a symbol of "Unity in Diversity," showing how Indonesia's many cultures come together as one. In 2009, it was also added to UNESCO's list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
06
Korea has a traditional clothing culture like Batik, too. It's Hanbok, which holds Koreans' sense of beauty and cultural identity.
07
In the past, the shape and colors of Hanbok showed a person's status, official rank, and gender. Its colors also carried the idea of "harmony" from yin-yang and the five elements. Hanbok was a must in rituals wishing for the family's health and happiness. To protect and pass on these values, "Hanbok saenghwal" was designated as National Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2022.
08
Like Batik, Hanbok today keeps its traditional charm while adding a fresh, modern touch. It's changing so people can wear it comfortably not only on special days like weddings but also every day, and it's mixing with today's fashion, too.
09
Hanbok's beauty is getting attention around the world. Its full shape makes the wearer look dignified and graceful, and its soft curves give it a natural charm. Above all, its bright, cheerful colors and patterns go well with Korea's nature and its four clear seasons.
10
Korea's Hanbok and Indonesia's Batik are both precious forms of cultural heritage that show each region's own clothing traditions and culture, even as fashion around the world becomes more connected.
